The Philosophy of Remedial Massage

Remedial means ‘giving or intended as a remedy or cure.’ Our Health Philosophy is: “Achieve optimal health with preventative and holistic therapies – we believe the body wants to be well and when given the right environment can heal itself”. With Remedial Massage we aim to get the body to a place of balance where it can thrive and perform at its best. If you have niggling injuries or areas of pain, remedial bodywork could be just the thing you need to help remove the tension so the body is able to heal itself with proper exercise, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. Feeling too sore and tender to be touched? Sometimes there can be inflammation in areas, which are sore and/or stiff. In these cases we recommend using the Infrared Sauna prior to your massage to enable blood flow and reduce inflammation around the area that is causing your grief. Not many remedial massage clinics on the Northern Beaches offer these therapies together – they are a match made in heaven.

Our treatment process

You will be asked to fill out a form which asks about your current health status including details of any other health professionals you are consulting with (we like to know this so our treatment can complement what they are doing. We often liaise with Chiros, Physios and Osteos to ensure our clients get the best care possible.

Your therapist will do a postural assessment to see how you present in a standing position. Your therapist may also ask you some questions regarding your client form or certain areas of postural imbalance. You will then be asked to prepare for your treatment by undressing to your underwear and lying under a towel on a massage table.

You will be asked to get dressed when you are ready and then your therapist might want to do another postural assessment to see how your body adapted over the course of the treatment. Your therapist may recommend some stretches or strengthening exercises to assist with your progression and will recommend when they would like to see you for a follow up treatment.
