“Let food be thy medicine.” – Hippocrates
Lasting health changes rarely come from another restrictive diet. They come from understanding what’s actually driving your symptoms.
At pH Clinic, we offer clinical nutrition but with a holistic view. We believe that health comes from not only eating the right food, but also by making sure the mind and the body are all healthy and nourished too. There is no quick fix. We dig deep, look for the underlying issues and help you to resolve them from the inside out, rather than trying to mask or cover up the symptoms.
Our Clinical Nutritionist Maeve brings a particular focus on gut health, metabolic disease and cognitive wellbeing, using comprehensive testing and structured, evidence-informed protocols to get to the root of long-standing health concerns.
Your nutritionist will take a comprehensive case history of your health, assess your diet and lifestyle including potential nutritional deficiencies, and of course discuss your goals and how we can achieve these for you.
We use evidence based nutrition and testing to create a tailored treatment plan to help you reach your goals. You will be given continuous support and guidance by your nutritionist to help motivate and encourage you on your journey.
When indicated we use diagnostic testing to investigate your health concerns further. This may include blood pathology, extensive thyroid function tests, comprehensive digestive & stool analysis, and food intolerance testing. Maeve has extensive experience interpreting Nutripath and BioScreen testing, using these results to build structured, multi-month gut restoration protocols where needed.
You will be asked to come back in for a follow up consultation so that your nutritionist can see how you’ve been progressing with your treatment and if there are any changes that need to be made. Throughout the whole process, you’ll be given guidance and support by your nutritionist to help motivate and encourage you on your journey.

This is dependent on each individual – our treatment is all tailored to you. Treatment length is determined by how chronic the health condition, how you’re responding to treatment, your commitment levels and also how much support you require. We generally recommend a follow up appointment about 3 weeks after your initial, where we go through your personalised treatment plan. Then appointments may be spaced out every 4-6 weeks depending on your requirements. Most treatments need a minimum commitment of at least 3 months to see any long term changes, however we will discuss all of this in your appointment.
We will work with you to find the most realistic plan, and each session empowers you with a lifetime knowledge to maintain optimal health ongoing.
If you have any recent (last 6 months) testing including blood tests, any relevant scans or other investigations please bring a copy with you to your initial appointment.
We will then assess if any further testing may be needed. We always like to see up to date pathology tests which we can help you organise. And sometimes require further investigations to identify the underlying drivers to your health concerns in order to get the most effective results. Some common tests include:
We select the most suitable GI Micobial testing for the client – we commonly use Nutripath CDSA, Bioscreen or Designs for Health GI-Map testing.. Assessing GI health with the proper tools like this can help us get to the root cause of chronic illness and all of your digestive issues.
Almost every patient can benefit from a gut health assessment. Some patients are looking to achieve optimal health, while other patients have been chronically ill and frustrated without a diagnosis for years. Conditions where GI Microbial testing esting can support clinical diagnosis and treatment needs are:
A Nutritionist within Australia is an accredited health practitioner who has completed a minimum of 3 years study at a University or accredited College. They generally have an Advanced Diploma or Degree in Nutritional Medicine and are industry regulated.
A Nutritionist takes a holistic approach to your health; looking at diet, lifestyle and nutritional deficiencies, and works to identify any underlying drivers to your health concerns. That way we can address the root cause, rather than just treating symptoms, giving you long term change.
You will gain understanding of your current health condition and how your lifestyle, diet, nutrient deficiencies and imbalances within your body are affecting your health. When working alongside a nutritionist over a minimum of a 6-12 month period you can hope to see changes in your symptoms and current health status.
In your first consult, the practitioner will go over your entire health history and current health status. It is important that no details are missed as these can help to identify possible causes to symptoms you are experiencing. Then, if necessary, you may be required to receive some functional testing such as blood tests, food allergy testing, stool analysis etc. You will receive a personalised treatment plan and advice around diet, lifestyle and supplements if indicated, to help support your body in healing itself. In each follow up your progress is monitored, we review supplements, food diaries, take measurements if required and step you through your treatment plan so all of your goals are achieved.
