Meet Amanda

Amanda Ford is our resident accredited Nutritionist with over 10 years in clinical practice, as well as holding experience in pharmacy and was previously Marketing manager for a leading natural food company. So she has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the health industry. She’s also a mum of two little kids who keep her nice and busy.
Originally with a background in the Advertising industry, Amanda knows first hand the impact of our fast paced world on your health. Amanda initially came to love the power of natural medicine as a teen. She was a competitive rower and after a Glandular Fever diagnosis, she turned to a natural health practitioner to support her health and through that was able to continue rowing even at a State and National level. But it was in her 20’s when she faced further health issues, her passion for nutrition was sparked and she went back to study an Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine. 

What is Nutritional Medicine?

Nutritional medicine is a holistic approach using food and nutrients as medicine in order to prevent chronic disease and optimise ones health. Nutrients are the building blocks of our physical body, so correcting nutritional imbalances is fundamental to the prevention and treatment of many common conditions. When the body is supplied with the correct balance of foods, vitamins and minerals we can heal the body and remain healthy.

Amanda specialises in the areas of:
  • Digestion (IBS, SIBO, Candida, Parasites, Reflux etc.)
  • Food Intolerances
  • Weight loss
  • Thyroid health (e.g. Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis)
To provide the most effective treatment for you, further testing can be very helpful and Amanda often refers for:

    (e.g. screening Nutritional deficiencies like Vitamin B12, D3, Iron, Iodine; Liver function; Cholesterol etc) as well as Thyroid Function Tests, Coeliac Disease, MTHFR, Female + Male Hormones.

  • Food Intolerance Testing
  • Urinary Pyrroles
  • Heavy Metal Testing
Amanda has a holistic but evidence based approach to Nutrition, so you’ll find her consultations are quite in-depth as we’re trying to pinpoint the root cause/s behind your health issues. That way we can address the underlying drivers and really provide long term improvements to your health.
 
In the initial consultation Amanda will carry out a comprehensive health assessment and from that she will provide some dietary, lifestyle and supplement recommendations for you along with any testing referrals if necessary. Amanda will then do a treatment plan for you which is provided in subsequent appointments to monitor and progress you through to achieve your specific health goals.
 
Being a Nutritionist, Amanda is passionate about providing practical advice so you’ll find a real focus on the diet and an abundance of healthy recipes, food ideas, meal plans and resources to help you make any necessary changes to your diet.
