How to Get the Best of Sunlight, without the Damaging effects of UV.

One of the best things about Australia is its sunny climate, but it’s also a source of constant danger, because of its strong ultraviolet (UV) radiation, giving Australia the world’s highest rates of melanoma. However, in recent years thanks to the latest technology, we are able enjoy the best of sunlight, while remaining safe from skin damage. This can be achieved thanks to infrared sauna development, using one on a regular basis allows you to enjoy the benefits of sunlight, such as warmth, relaxation, improved health and detoxification, while staying indoors.

The main question seems to be are they safe? Especially taking into account that they make use of a type of light which is also present in the sun, that being infrared rays.

We did a bit of searching and here is what we found – Infrared Sauna vs Direct Sun Rays. When the sun emits UV light, it causes sunburn and damages your skin. Eventually, this slight damage can transform into dark spots, wrinkles, and a host of other unwanted cosmetic issues. Additionally, the effects of harmful rays can go far beyond the surface and most of us are aware of the dangers of excessive sunshine. After years of studies, there is no doubt that extreme heat can be harmful – and even fatal at its worst.

Dangers of harmful sun rays include:

Damage to skin and eyes

Weakened immune system

Premature aging

Skin cancer

This is not to say that it should be avoided at all costs. Sunlight is amazing at literally and metaphorically brightening up our day, as well as providing necessary Vitamin D. Having said that, it’s also good to know that, like everything else, it’s all about balance.
The reality is that some sunlight is good. Infrared rays penetrate the skin, dissolving harmful substances and revitalising the body on a cellular level. Yet there are safer ways to claim the enormous benefits from the sun’s infrared radiation, while avoiding Australia’s extreme heat, by opting for an infrared sauna session, instead.

What level of Heat can you expect?

Unlike a traditional sauna, infrared saunas don’t heat the air around you. Instead, they use infrared lamps (that use electromagnetic radiation) to warm your body directly.

“These saunas use infrared panels instead of conventional heat to easily penetrate human tissue, heating up your body before heating up the air,” explains physical therapist, Vivian Eisenstadt, MAPT, CPT, MASP.

An infrared sauna can operate at a lower temperature (44° – 55° Celsius) than a traditional sauna, which is typically between 65˚C and 82˚C.

Manufacturers claim that in an infrared sauna, only about 20 percent of the heat goes to heat the air and the other 80 percent directly heats your body.

Supporters of infrared saunas say the heat penetrates more deeply than warmed air. This allows you to experience a more intense sweat at a lower temperature.

Are Infrared Saunas Safe?

The short answer is yes. A high-quality infrared sauna can provide you with all the healing properties of the sun – and you can stay indoors while basking in the benefits.
This is because infrared therapy uses heat that mimics the far infrared wavelengths produced by the sun’s electromagnetism. As part of the invisible structure of sunlight, these wavelengths penetrate deep below the skin’s surface, warming the body directly. In fact, 80 percent of the heat produced by an infrared sauna targets the body, with very little energy escaping into the chamber itself. These saunas are so safe that hospitals even rely on the technology to keep newborns warm. Not only are infrared saunas safe, but their type of heat is a natural part of the body’s healing process.
For instance, have you ever seen a mother rub her baby’s stomach to relieve aches? She’s naturally doing this because the infrared heat emitted from her hand produces strong healing effects. This gentle heat quickly gets to work in raising core temperature. And the results are vast, from stimulating our metabolism and lymphatic system, to bolstering the strength of our cardiovascular system and immune systems, as well.
There are multiple health benefits for staying indoors and indulging in the soothing effects of an infrared sauna.

You can also expect the following health and wellbeing benefits, when practicing regular sessions of infrared sauna therapy:

Enhanced relaxation

Bolstered immune system

Elimination of built-up toxins

Increased metabolism and circulation

Muscle Pain Relief

Eased Joint Pain

Improved Skin Appearance

Between extreme heat and worldwide pandemics, it makes sense that many of us are striving to stay indoors at all costs these days. But that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the healthiest parts of warmer weather. With our high-quality infrared sauna, you can enjoy the powerful healing properties of the full infrared spectrum of light that the sun emits — without the dangerous electromagnetism of its harmful rays.
