We are lucky enough to have an incredible tribe surrounding us at the clinic. Staff, clients, friends and family all with SO many inspiring stories to share.
This is Fred, (Fred isn’t his real name nor is this picture of him, we will call him fred as he would prefer to remain anonymous). Fred is a long time client and very special member of our Community here at pH.
My health journey began the day I was born…. It wasn’t an easy start to life and it definitely wasn’t a breeze growing up. While the story can come across as a bit doom and gloom – it is what it is. It’s a hard, real, unpredictable life and I’m still here to tell the tail!
I was born with a condition called Pyloric Stenosis. My intestines were quite literally twisted around my spine. I underwent major surgery at 3 days old to have it repaired and unraveled. I now have a 20cm scar on my stomach.

My Journey
About 80% of my life for the first 7 years was spent in hospital. I couldn’t eat properly, one kidney was only operating at 25% and I couldn’t go to the toilet on my own. Then when I could go to the toilet, a whole new world of problems opened up. So I’ve essentially been having colonics since birth.
The effects of this condition weren’t just physical. My mental health took a huge hit also. My attendance at school was limited and unpredictable, I suffered severe bullying because of my condition and was not exactly part of a supportive family unit growing up. It was tough.
Healthy and Well In My 50’s
I’m now in my mid 50’s and am healthy and well. I have regular bowel movements, eat a healthy, mostly plant based diet and am not on any medications. I work as a high level professional, travelling regularly – in fact went around the world 8 times last year. I exercise regularly and enjoy socialising. Although I do a lot for my health, the pressure, responsibility and social commitments that come with my job mean that I am drinking more alcohol than I should be. This does put a strain on my health at times, but I am taking measures and advice from a variety of health professionals who keep me accountable and on top of it all.
pH To Support My Journey
Fred has been coming to pH Clinic since 2017 for regular weekly/biweekly colonics. This is mainly for maintenance and to keep everything functioning. He supplements with a variety of gut and liver supporting herbs and nutrients depending on what he and his therapist are working on. Fred is a part of the family here at pH and we just love having him in clinic to support his journey and always have a good
laugh.
Note From The Therapist
“Fred has been a client of mine for 3 years now and although our relationship is sometimes more of a mother/son dynamic I feel we understand one another’s role in his journey. Fred has been through a lot from a young age and his resilience and positive attitude have been pivotal in his recovery and continued health. He is a dedicated and lovely man who I see as a close friend who I am honoured to continue to support.” – Nicola Colonic hydrotherapist
