We are lucky enough to have an incredible tribe surrounding us at the clinic. Staff, clients, friends and family all with SO many inspiring stories to share.
My name is Karine, a year ago I started feeling pain in both elbows for no apparent reason. I have always been fit and healthy, I have been weight training for 10 years and I am very careful and rarely pull muscles. I decided to consult a Physio, Chiro, Osteo and even a Neurologist. They had no idea what caused the pain so I decided to do a blood test and hair analysis to check for nutrient deficiencies and heavy metals.
The Results Were Shocking!
I found out I had highly toxic levels of Arsenic and Mercury. My results were off the charts; 22 times the average levels of Arsenic and 8 times the average levels of Mercury!
After doing some research, I came to know that these metals come from conventional non-organic foods (arsenic in chicken and rice, mercury in large fish…), tap water, dental fillings, protein powders (95% of protein powders contain arsenic and I had been taking a lot of protein powders as part of my weight training regimen), contact lens cleaning solutions in the 90’s and cosmetic products, among others. Heavy metals are stored in the body’s fat tissues. I adopted a Ketogenic way of living in 2018 and leaned out quite a lot. I lost all my excess fat and all the toxins were released into my bloodstream.
Time To Detox
After some more research, I identified the 4 most efficient ways to get rid of heavy metals:
- Infrared Sauna – to sweat out the toxins
- Nutritional supplements to bind to the metals and eliminate them
- Swapping conventional foods, cosmetics and cleaning products for organic non-toxic products, and
- Installing an optimal water filtration system in the kitchen to get “clean” water.
After doing some research I found pH Clinic and started my health journey. pH Clinic offers different Infrared Sauna packs, the 50-pack was exactly what I needed. Infrared saunas are more efficient than traditional saunas and more convenient because of the dry heat and comfortable temperature. I was using the Infrared Sauna every second day, the pH Clinic team is very enthusiastic, helpful and smiley. This made it a really enjoyable experience and I was sharing my progress with the staff and they were really motivating. It became a part of my routine, it was a very calming and relaxing experience.
New Test Results
In addition to the Saunas I also added several detoxifying supplements like chlorella, clay/charcoal and alpha lipoic acid. On top of that I continued my normal weight training program, every 6 weeks I took a break for 5 or 10 days and after these breaks I changed my fitness program. I stopped doing cardio, because it was too stressful for my body. I went for walks everyday (approx 80 minutes) which allowed me to practise breathing techniques, mindfulness and also get some valuable sun exposure.
I re-test for heavy metals ever 3-4 months, my latest results were very encouraging showing that my toxicity levels had plummeted. My arsenic and mercury levels decreased by 50% ! My blood tests also showed that a thyroid level which was out of range was improving.
“It can take several years to fully get rid of all toxins, but I don’t mind, I am on the right track and I am really enjoying my new healthy lifestyle. I have never been so fit and with so much energy. I will definitely keep the saunas in my routine even when I no longer have toxic heavy metal levels! I am very happy with the results so far and plan on continuing with my new found health habits!”
During my journey to health, I became really frustrated with the mainstream information about nutrition and healthy lifestyles. It can be so wrong, misleading and even harmful. That is why I started blogging about nutrition, sleep optimisation, stress management, toxin reduction and exercise. I realised that our modern lifestyle these days is harmful to our health in many different ways and I want to share what I have learned.
